Mokihinui
Start Date/Time: Saturday, 23 October 2010
End Date/Time: Monday, 25 October 2010
Recurring Event: One time event
Trip Organizer/Contact Details: Hugh Canard
Meeting Place/Time: TRIP FULL. You must register with Hugh for this trip!
Grade:
Grade 3/4
Description:

THIS TRIP IS NOW FULL.
Please contact Hugh if you are a Raft Guide or want to be put on the standby list.

The trip in was a huge success in 2008, and the river still needs your help and attention.  Whitewater NZ and the WWCC and our friends in Forest & Bird and Fish & Game have been resisting the hydro dam scheme with some successes.  We need to keep the issues and this wild river in the media.

Register your interest now.  We need to know numbers - the more on the trip, the cheaper it is, and the bigger statement we make. Accommodation is limited.

Kayakers - Grade 4 trip from the N Branch to the road end.
Kayakers - Grade 3+ trip from the Forks to the road end. (see attachment for info)
Rafters - Grade 3+ from the Forks.

There will be a half day shakedown trip (kayaks + some rafts) on the Lower Buller on Saturday, the Mokihinui trip on Sunday, and a shortish kayak trip of Grade 3 on Monday on the way home. Stay in cabins, tents or whatever.  Leave Friday night, home by tea time on Monday.
NOTE: the river in 2008 was about as high as we would wish to run it.

RAFT GUIDES

Those of you who are retired raft guides - please contact Hugh if you want a fun trip with a bit of guiding fellow kayakers in a raft.  I can advise about the legalities. Raft guides go free.

Friends and family - we will try and stay at holiday parks, and we’ll be home each evening.  No long shuttles.

THE COSTS and more information can be found here.

TO REGISTER INTEREST

CONTACT the Organiser for more details, or to assess skills etc.
