Newsletter out now

The latest copy of the White Water Canoe Club newsletter is out now, very narrowly squeezed in between coaching on both beginner's courses and a very busy month at work. But it is here at last!  Please click on the link below ('read more...') to take you to the newsletter page, the top file is the one you want.  You will need to be signed in to the website to view.  If you requested paper copies when you paid your membership fee this year, they will be in the post to you by the end of today.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this issue :-)  Now seeking articles, photos, scribbles, wibbles and nonsense for the next issue, forward copy to me at newsletter@whitewater.org.nz.  Also if you are aware of anyone appropriate who may wish to advertise, please let me know.  I will be contacting our usual advertisers in due course.

Looking forward to seeing you on the river (Hurunui this wknd, Murch next weekend, Crooked/Arnold after that) very soon...  Failing that, in the pub ;-)

Gear Shed UpdateGear Shed Update

The season is underway, and it is time to shake off the cobwebs!  Get a boat and get on the river!  Or the surf!  Official word has come through that the beaches are cleared for playing!

Anyone wanting to try the slalom boat out can rent it for FREE!  I really want to encourage people to try it out this year.  It is incredibly fun and fabulous for your technique--just ask Debbie or Anna.

As most of you probably already know, the shed on Avonside Drive is munted, and our lease has been cancelled by the Council. Until we can find a more permanent soloution, the gear is currently being stored in a large(ish) garage in the residential red zone in Dallington.  Anyone wanting gear needs to contact Bill or Ingrid in advance, and we can head over there.  Please email ALL gear requests to gearhire@whitewater.org.nz, not our personal emails.

Finally, bear in mind that most of the gear will not be available during the beginners' courses.

Happy paddling, surfing, rolling, being hole bait or whatever your river fancy!

Sincerely,
The Gear Folk

Rolling Practice

As you all know, the QEII is munted and won't be available for rolling sessions or canoe polo for some time. Luckily the folks at Living Springs have stepped up to fill the gap and have made their heated, indoor pool available for rolling sessions on Thursday evenings. Let's make sure we make the most of that!
